I'd like to be able to Drag and Drop tasks to a different day. Let's say I've not completed all of today's tasks for some reason. I'd like to move them to the next day or a following day with drag and drop. Now I have to edit the Cal Date, do a save, click to a different day then back to see the remaining tasks, it should auto refresh.

I find editing much easier and more convenient in the info drawer. (It would also be nice if the info drawer could be made wider.)

I've defined keyboard macros (QuicKeys) to pop open or close the drawer (the More Info button, Command I) and a Save Key (Command S - duh!) to save the changes.

ALANR  Usability is much improved, the ability to drag projects from one calendar day to a different is a big time saver.

The advantage of the EasyTask concept for me is the simplicity. I don't manage large projects involving many people. I just need to maintain a list of tasks which may or may not reach completion on a given day and get the ones not relevant to today or tomorrow out of view for the time being.

Most of the other project or task management applications are far too complicated for my needs. I don't need progress bars and so on, they're not relevant to my work and simply add noise to the views.

None of the others I've looked at (a lot) offer the possibility to view a single day's tasks alone. Start with today's view and do what you can. Some tasks reach completion and some are rescheduled for various reasons. Other apps always seem to display all tasks or projects at once and don't lend themselves to helping one focus on the ones that most need attention today.

There are some other minor tweaks which need attention but I'll email my notes to the developer.

That's exactly the mindset I was looking for when I wrote ET. Something very simple. Keep track of what needs to be done without taking too much time to setup or maintain.

ORIONBELT  What's the problem with recurrent events?

You are the first person to report this and I know there are other users using this feature.

OLIPOWER  The problem? It does not work. At least not as in iCal, Life Balance or others...

I've tried many times. Adding a recurring event like:

monday, wednesday, friday = kickboxing

... simply does not show up on the corresponding days. So when viewing my chedule for wednesday, there is not kickboxing there.

I've tried fiddling around with the software, but it simply does not work.

ORIONBELT  Lets try this out:

1.- Add new task with DueDate Friday Jul 7, 2006

2.- Set Recurrence to 1 week on Monday, Wed, Friday

3.- Sync to iCal (it shows as due Today Friday Jul 7)

4.- Complete task (changes the Due Date to Monday Jul 10. Which is Next Monday)

5.- Sync to iCal and guess what? it shows as due on Monday Jul 10.

If you follow this steps. Which is the way the program is supposed to work it works just fine.

BTW EasyTask is a Todo so it sync to iCals ToDos. Not to the events. So you will never see a task from ET in the events on iCal.

OLIPOWER  I'm talking about the calendar *inside* of EasyTask...

Am I not supposed to be able to sit on a sunday afternoon, and view what I'm doing on the coming monday, tuesday, wednesday, etc? As is now a recurring event (event as in "generic event" not "iCal event") will NOT show up.

About iCal sync: I don't care as ET itself needs to work before I start thinking about it working with other programs.

ORIONBELT  Once you complete a task, the due date is changed to the next recurrence. ET doesn't treat tasks as recurring events that will show multiple times.

You need to complete a task before it will move to the next occurence in the Calendar.

So for the task to show on your "Next 7 days" you need to mark the "Friday" one as completed. And it will only show once, on Monday. Once you complete Monday then it's going to show on Wednesday, etc.

OLIPOWER  Ok, then it works, but not as expected. Software conventions and all. iCal works differently, Life Balance works differently. Would you consider changing it? I like to be able to view my week. GTD should also be about overview, in order to feel in control. As is now, I feel stressed because I don't know what tomorrow brings, even though recuring tasks are scheduled.

ORIONBELT  Ok, to recap:

Recurrent tasks will be treated as "events". Once you add Recurrence to a task, that task will show multiple times (like in the next week section) and it won't be necessary to "Complete". I can add a preference that will change the way ETM treats Recurrent tasks. I'll look into it.

Now, would you consider changing your review? Even if you don't agree with the way the program currently works that's not reason to give it one star in all categories.

ALANR  I agree about the $20 price. If something is $10 I'll often try it out and if it's at all interesting I'll buy the licence key almost immediately.

When it's $20 or more then I compare more carefully to what I already have and often skip the new purchase. In this case I have tools for this job that do nearly as much as Easy Task so I've passed so far.
